You don't make money just by solving problems.
It's true.
- The air solves your problem of survival, but it makes no money.
- The sunshine solves your problem of warmth, but it makes no money.
- The earth solves your problem of food, but it makes no money.
- Your family and friends solve your emotional problems, but they don't make money from you.
It's logical to think that:
- Solving problems creates value.
- Value can be captured, making money.
- So, solving problems makes money.
What's taken for granted is how to capture value. You need infrastructure to account for the value exchange and to capture some of it.
- The earth doesn't make money, but the farmers do.
- The sun doesn't make money, but the solar farms do.
There's so much more value created than captured in the world. That's a good thing :)
Summary: Solving problems is necessary to make money. But it's not sufficient. Solving problems create value, but still needs to capture it.
